Stakeout mode is used to find the physical location of predetermined coordinates on the ground. Go to and select Stakeout . Select the data job containing the design coordinates. Enter or select the Point ID that you want to stake out. The screen will display (the angle you need to turn) and (the distance to move). Rotate the total station until reads 0°00'00" . Lock the horizontal motion. Direct the prism holder to stand along this line of sight. Sight the prism and press DIST . Look at the screen indicators: Fill/Cut: Tells you to build up or dig down the ground.
