Ananthanarayanan's commitment to the field continued long after his retirement. He served as a Technical Advisor in Dubai, worked as a consultant for Batliboi & Company in Mumbai, and was a certified member of the Refrigeration Service Engineers Society (RSES) in Chicago, USA. His peers highly respected him, which was evident when he was made an of the Indian Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers ( ISHRAE ) in 1992. The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) also honoured him for his distinguished service. In 2013, ISHRAE posthumously inducted him into their Hall of Fame , cementing his legacy as a titan in the Indian HVAC industry.
